Dallas boasts two thriving GLBT neighborhoods, just minutes from Downtown. Each has a unique atmosphere that radiates through the people and businesses in the community.

For over 25 years, Oak Lawn has been the epicenter of all the GLBT action in Dallas. Beginning in the mid 1980s, the crossroads (Cedar Springs Road and Throckmorton Street) is where gay activism in Dallas began. Located in the Oak Lawn neighborhood, the crossroads continue to boast a bustling mix of unique shops, exquisite dining and hot nightlife.

Fun is always a great social time, especially when you get to meet thousands of fabulous new people. Oak Lawn has several free outdoor events each year that attract thousands of people. Easter in the Park invites anyone and everyone to picnic on the grounds of Lee Park and watch a Pooch Parade and hear the Dallas Symphony Orchestra perform live. The Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade is the pinnacle of Dallas Pride as the parade runs down Cedar Springs Road from Wycliff Avenue to Turtle Creek Boulevard. The Oak Lawn Halloween Street Party is anything but boring. The Cedar Springs Road between Throckmorton and Oak Lawn is closed off to traffic and thousands of patrons can rebel the streets and show off their costumes down a catwalk.

Another popular neighborhood is the Bishop Arts District where arts and dining seamlessly blend together, creating a charming and upcoming area. Here you will find an array of art galleries, restaurants and shops situated along a city block. If you’re looking to move to Dallas, the Bishop Arts District is a cozy community nestled just southwest of Downtown.

What gives Dallas a real sense of pride are the non-profit service organizations that strive to educate and offer assistance in the community. From GLBT youth groups to health awareness and support, many proud residents of Dallas work tirelessly to support our GLBT community.
